After the eclipse...

Here's my best picture of the eclipse, which is partial at the time of the picture. To the bottom right of the moon is Saturn. We were outside of La Serena for a few hours to see the eclipse, and also look at the dark sky. It was incredible to watch all the stages of the eclipse, from partial to totality and then back again, through the night. At total eclipse, the moon glows red. We were lucky to have clear skies, and also a few astronomers set up fancy telescopes, binoculars, and cameras so we could see better. I looked at the moon and Saturn (even Saturn's rings!!) through the telescopes.

You can look at these pictures from Malcolm, a very nice astronomer here interested in community outreach, dark skies, and photography!!
